About Paul Barron
Since founding trend setting websites Fastcasual.com and QSRweb.com in the mid 90's my passion for media and technology and how it intersects with business has been a vision that has finally come to reality.  Business today must address the sweeping changes that are upon us, it's not just about social media but instead about the transformation of how business will do everything from marketing to customer service to research.  I have spent the last 18 years building successful online businesses, building creative content networks, global events and even uncovering emerging trends that have turned into a 20 billion business segment.  My passion is about results and how we can use these new age techniques to move our business into the future.

What does it really take to lead restaurants into the future

Some great comments are shared at the People Report Summer Camp Conference.  I caught a few people on cam to talk about leading the restaurant business out of the old and into the new.  It's time we take inventory on how we really do business and ask the hard questions.  What can we do to change the consumers point of view and our own teams point of view.

We have a great opportunity as we forge into a new era in the restaurant business but it will take some guts, some risks and some luck.  You know the stuff your built your business with in the first place . .  Remember?

These interviews are a great reminder of the energy and passion of the Summer Camp attendees about taking their workplaces to the next level.. They are not afraid to ask questions, ask for help, learn new things, share best practices, or perhaps most striking - support one another. Amanda makes a terrific point - and I completely agree - these job seekers are going to have very long memories - and how they are treated will impact their attitudes and decisions in the future about where they work - and where they spend their money.

You should checkout SinglePlatform. We are a social media and marketing platform specifically for restaurants and bars, and we are already working with thousands of restaurants across the country. SinglePlatform provides bars and restaurants with one platform that enables bar to optimize their presence on the ever-changing web. This one portal allows establishments to manage their critical information (events, specials, games and menu items) from one location. The platform updates their own website, their mobile site, and is distributed, in real-time, to a variety of other sites (social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, review sites such as Citysearch and Urban Spoon, and iPhone apps like Foursquare and Gowalla among others).
