Local Trend tracking and how they will affect Restaurants in 2010

Several posts back I mentioned that Geo-Lo would have a big impact on restaurant marketing as the masses create trends that are based in local markets. As Geo location and Twitter merge together the marketing power of what Twitter offers could out pace the Facebook approach which is more demographic based.

I think the point here is there will be a whole new set of tools, apps and plugins for Twitter and I am sure Facebook with go lockstep as they have recently in opening up the Facebook fire hose for public posting so that they could affect real-time search.

So expect local Check-ins, Local ads, Local friend awareness and best of all integration to what could be an onslaught of new Twitter based apps on local anything from food to entertainment, to medical, real-estate you name it all by end of 2010. The world of local will have an all-new meaning.

The settings for local are not available on all accounts just yet but they will be coming, I am sure of it. I expect we could see some business-based services that we pay for this year as well that will relate to local ad, services and analytics.

The world of marketing, customer service and community is merging right before our eyes. Make sure you keep yours open.

Tell me what you think would be a great Geo-Lo app or service; I would love to hear your opinion.
